HFL Board Chair
Dr. Nicole Cooper
Dr. Cooper is a Liberian physician who is U.S. board certified in both Internal Medicine and
Pediatrics and currently practices in Monrovia, Liberia. She is a proud alumna of Baylor College
of Medicine and completed her residency and public health training at the University of Miami
and Harvard School of Public Health respectively before accepting a position with Kaiser
Permanente, the largest managed healthcare organization in the United States. In 2017, Dr.
Cooper returned to Liberia to pursue her passion for health system strengthening and worked as
a Consultant Pediatrician with the Liberian College of Physicians and Surgeons’ Pediatrics
Residency Program before joining Jahmale Medical Solutions. In February 2020, she became the
founding chair of the Healthcare Federation of Liberia, a local branch of the Africa Healthcare
Federation, which unifies private healthcare businesses across the continent to create enabling
environments for increased access to high-quality healthcare. She is currently the CEO and
Medical Director at Wellness Partners Clinic in Monrovia.
HFL Roles & Responsibilities
- Providing leadership of the federation.
- Ensuring the committees' function properly.
- Representing the federation as its figurehead.
- Chairing Federation Meetings (General and Board Meetings) effectively and impartially
- Planning meetings and agendas in collaboration with the secretary of the federation
- Ensuring the federation's decisions are implmeneted
- Ensuring the board focuses on its key tasks
- engaging the board in assessing and improving its performance.
- Exercise leadership in the implementation of the HFL Strategy.
